Special:"Calligraffiti" book release.

Berlin based, urban culture and graffiti book specialists From Here To Fame Publishing are pleased to present the first round of titles from their spring 2010 catalogue: Calligraffiti – The Graphic Art of Niels "Shoe" Meulman and On The Run Book # 7- Graffiti Tattoo – Kings on Skin.

The lecture of the two authors Niels Meulman and Adam Eeuwens starts Thursday the 11th at 8pm in our Basement Bar.

Street-edge meets high-end design as contemporary Dutch calligrapher, typographer and designer Niels Meulman, also known as graffiti artist “SHOE” from the legendary Crime Time Kings, explores the contours of words as images in "Calligraffiti" - his hybrid art form which blends calligraphy and graffiti. He presents for our viewing pleasure a wonderful interplay of contrasts, such as ‘black-white’ and ‘rise-fall’, with a series of fast phrases and upbeat witticisms in the form of captivating typographic masterpieces.

The South-African Perspective

by Pauli, Marcus 29 June 2010 in Just Interesting

This year, especially now, all eyes are on South Africa. Besides soccer and all the contrasts the media loves to show us, South Africa has a lot more to offer. Creativity for instance.

We're gonna start a little series on creative South African work with the most topical issues: HIV and Human Rights. I know it's easy to start with the striking things but on the other side: if we start with these we can tick them off very early...

For the Topsy FoundationOgilvy Jo'burg created a commercial which got Gold at Cannes 2010.  Topsy focusses on rural communities and the re-integration of HIV-positive people there. Check there website and support their work.

The next video focuses on a document called »Freedom Charta«. Written and approved in 1955 by the Congress of the People, for decades it served as the ANC's manifesto and finally formed the basis of the current South African constitution.

Though South Africa already took big steps to overcome their past, there are still grave problems with poverty heading the list.

During the last months, graffiti artist Faith47 created some great works referring to the South African status quo and the aims of the Freedom Charta. Rowan Pybus from Makhulu Productions shadowed her and just published the result.

There is more to come... stay tuned...

Who We Are and What We Do

Meyer, Miller, Smith.

Head. Hands. Heart. We believe that there is a real connection between craftsmanship and communication.

As information and intelligence becomes the domain of computers, society will place more value on the one human ability that cannot be automated: Emotions.

People want to experience beauty, enjoy one’s work, feel passion, they want to interact with each other. We all want.

That’s why we believe that the future of brands is interaction, not commodity. It’s not something you buy, but something you participate in.
