Bestiarium - Fantastic exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, until 24th of May. It seems that because "it's with animals" a lot of people bring their kids along. And then face difficult questions when standing in front of images like the above one.

Falling Walls Conference 2010

Following the success of last year's Falling Walls conference, it is now planned to hold the event annually, the next one taking place on 7th and 8th of November, at Berlin Radialsystem arts centre.

Supported by many research institutions such as the Fraunhofer Institute, the Charité, or the Berlin Universities, Falling Walls is set to become a premier showcase for forward thinking research and ideas.

Last year's speeches have been made available online here, and for this year's event you can register for tickets here to receive an early bird discount.

We are proud to support the event, with a site built using our proprietary Figaro website kit, as well as the design of the CI and the production of all communication materials.

February 2nd 2010

by Eberle, Lars 16 January 2010 in Talk About the Weather

Our February Talk will feature the following 2 speakers:

The SOZIALHELDEN started in 2005. Time has gone by. And with the help of the two student initiators the SOZIALHELDEN have turned into a big network of voluntaries and a charitable organization. With creative projects they draw attention to social problems and - in the best case - remove them.
Raúl Aguayo-Krauthausen will present their latest project http://wheelmap.org/. The internet platform enables users to enter, change and find accessible and not so accessible locations.

For more than 5 years cinematographer Tomas Erhart has been taking still-pictures with his first generation cellphone-camera. One can see his highly respected work in exhibitions and on his website: http://cellphonology.com/
In “Talk about the Weather” Tomas speaks about pixels, Lomography, digital pictures and the hardship and pleasure of being a part-time foto-artist.

Nussknacker Mania

by Mentzel, Anna 17 December 2009 in Product Design

Lately it came to my mind that the wood craft from German Erzgebirge could serve as a source of inspiration for modern character design.

Those Ergebirge miners from about 150 years and even earlier ago developed quite a mania choosing simple forms and shapes, long before Oskar Schlemmer created his Triardisches Ballett.

Having that in mind I stumbled across this exhibition in Berlin Torstrasse presenting these plain big guys:

Who We Are and What We Do

Meyer, Miller, Smith.

Head. Hands. Heart. We believe that there is a real connection between craftsmanship and communication.

As information and intelligence becomes the domain of computers, society will place more value on the one human ability that cannot be automated: Emotions.

People want to experience beauty, enjoy one’s work, feel passion, they want to interact with each other. We all want.

That’s why we believe that the future of brands is interaction, not commodity. It’s not something you buy, but something you participate in.
