Fellow designer Gunnar Bauer, Aline Mandai, and Thomas and Thibaut Rocher created this interactive urban installation for the Tokyo Designtide 2009.

Hundreds of little handcrafted TiWiKi figures have been deployed across Shibuya. Finders can photograph, collect and release them elsewhere in town/the world. Their journeys get mapped at the code: TiWiKi site.

Hi Carsten, sorry, please get your facts straight...

Thibaut Rocher - inventor of the TiWiKi figures and founder of TiWiKi Design - developed the initial concept for the Design Tide project by himself. In the realization of this project most valuable work was contributed by Thomas Rocher (Web Development), Gunnar Bauer (Graphic Design) and Aline Mandai (Interpretation/Assistance). Could not have done it without them…

Thanks for proofreading, Ben. I slightly rephrased the first sentence, maybe this is easier to understand now. Thomas' involvement is not mentioned on their TiWiKi facebook page, hence he didn't appear here either.

Thanks Carsten, sure, you could not know about the mystery code man in the back room.

Also, I just checked back with the bosses at HQ, and I have to make another amendment:

Aline Mandai (Urban Space Expertise)!

All good now :)

Who We Are and What We Do

Meyer, Miller, Smith.

Head. Hands. Heart. We believe that there is a real connection between craftsmanship and communication. Working together as a group of skilled craftsmen we fuse contemporary design (Meyer) and the art of storytelling (Miller) with cutting edge technology (Smith), relentlessly pushing into new territory by creating pioneering work.

As information and intelligence becomes the domain of computers, society will place more value on the one human ability that cannot be automated: Emotions.

People want to experience beauty, enjoy one’s work, feel passion, they want to interact with each other. We all want.

That’s why we believe that the future of brands is interaction, not commodity. It’s not something you buy, but something you participate in.
